Utah Governor Appoints Rosemary Lesser To Represent House District 10

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (STL.News)— Gov. Spencer J. Cox has appointed Dr. Rosemary Lesser to represent District 10 in the Utah House of Representatives. Lesser, a retired obstetrician-gynecologist and Air Force veteran, replaces Rep. LaWanna “Lou” Shurtliff who died in December. “I am confident that Dr. Lesser will serve our state and her district with diligence and integrity,” Cox said. The appointment is effective immediately.

Spencer Cox issued the following statement: “I fully support the Legislature’s careful decision to shift legislative business online,” Gov. Cox said.  “We appreciate the counsel of the Utah Highway Patrol in monitoring potential social unrest and keeping the public, state employees and the Capitol building safe.” Because of the protests planned this weekend, UHP will provide additional security at the Capitol and the Utah National Guard will be available to help if needed.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT (STL.News) Utah Governor Spencer J. Cox Friday announced teachers and staff members in Utah’s K-12 schools will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning the week of January 11.  Utah adults 70 and older will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning the week of January 18. Gov. Cox set a goal of fully immunizing all health care providers, long-term care facility staff and residents, first responders, public and tribal health front-line workers, K-12 teachers and school staff, and adults older than 70 by the end of February.  Approximately 412,000 Utah residents from these population groups are expected to be vaccinated.
