Five Additional Louisiana Parishes Designated for Individual Assistance

BATON ROUGE, LA (STL.News) Homeowners and renters in Beauregard, Lafayette, Rapides, St. Landry and St. Martin parishes may now apply for federal disaster assistance for uninsured and underinsured damage and losses resulting from Hurricane Delta. To be eligible for federal disaster aid, storm damage and losses from the hurricane and flooding must have occurred as a result of Delta from October 6 to October 10, 2020.  The deadline to register is December 16, 2020. Acadia, Calcasieu, Cameron, Jefferson Davis and Vermilion parishes were previously included in the federal declaration to assist homeowners and renters. John Bel Edwards announced that COVID-19 testing sites are re-opening this week in areas impacted by Hurricane Delta.  Testing in the Acadiana region will resume Tuesday, October 13. “The pandemic is still very much part of our environment, and it’s important that residents be mindful of that as they work hard to recover from Hurricanes Delta and Laura,” said Gov. Entergy Louisiana Restores Power to 80% of Customers Following Hurricane Delta

(STL.News) Entergy Louisiana, LLC crews have made significant progress restoring power to customers after Hurricane Delta’s destructive winds and rains affected the company’s power grid in nearly every corner of the state. As of 4 p.m.  Monday, the company has restored approximately 255,000 customers, down from a peak of 320,000. Louisiana Governor Edwards Declares Emergency in Advance of Hurricane Delta

LA (STL.News) Gov. John Bel Edwards on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in advance of Hurricane Delta, which is forecast to make landfall in South Louisiana on Friday or Saturday. The Governor will host a Unified Command Group meeting this afternoon, followed by a media briefing at 3 p.m., which will be streamed at gov.louisiana.gov. The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness’ Emergency Operations Center will begin 24 hour operations on Wednesday. Hurricane Delta is currently a Category 4 storm and will enter into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, with wind speeds greater than 130 miles per hour.
