Statement from Frederick W. Smith, Chairman and CEO of FedEx Corporation

(STL.News) The New York Times published a distorted and factually incorrect story on the front page of the Sunday, November 17 edition concerning FedEx and our billions of dollars of tax payments and billions of dollars of investments in the U.S. economy.  Pertinent to this outrageous distortion of the truth is the fact that unlike FedEx, the New York Times paid zero federal income tax in 2017 on earnings of $111 million, and only $30 million in 2018 – 18% of their pretax book income.  Also in 2018 the New York Times cut their capital investments nearly in half to $57 million, which equates to a rounding error when compared to the $6 billion of capital that FedEx invested in the U.S. economy during that same year. Business News: FedEx Express Donates Car Seats to Promote Road Safety

Memphis, TN (STL.News) - FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), and the world’s largest express transportation company, announced a new campaign under its ‘FedEx Cares’ programme on road safety for children.  According to the Automobile Club of Moldova, there were 414 road crashes in 2018 where children were involved.  These resulted in 20 children losing their lives and 266 being severely injured.  Unfortunately, the number of children seriously traumatized by car crashes in Moldova also rose by 158% in 2018.  A key cause of this is said to be the prohibitive costs of car seats for low and middle-income families. In effort to reduce road deaths in the country and raise awareness about road safety, FedEx initiated a new campaign as part of its ‘FedEx Cares’ programme, enc...

Business News: FedEx Statement on Investigation in China

Memphis, TN (STL.News) - FedEx released the following statement: We have seen the announcement from the China State Post Bureau about the investigation and are following up on the findings.  We have and will continue to fully cooperate with the Chinese authorities on the investigation and we are committed to full compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.  These shipments in question were handled while we were trying to comply with the U.S. DOC BIS order which was unclear and resulted in considerable complexity for our operations.  We apologize for any confusion or harm to our customers as a result.  This is why FedEx initiated the suit against the U.S. DOC to prevent similar occurrences happening in the future.  FedEx values our business in China, and we are committed to improv...
