EDINBURG, TX (STL.News) Border Patrol agents from the McAllen Border Patrol Station arrest a previously convicted rapist attempting to illegally enter the country. This morning, McAllen Border Patrol Agents working near Mission, Texas apprehended a group of five subjects who illegally entered the United States.  Criminal record checks reveled one of the subjects was an Honduran national who was arrested in 2019 for 2nd degree rape by the Suffolk County Police Department in the State of New York.  The subject was subsequently convicted for the crime and then removed from the country by immigration officials last year. Edinburg: Axel Noel Rodriguez Rivera sent to prison for shipping cocaine

Drug trafficker, Axel Noel Rodriguez Rivera sent to prison for shipping cocaine via mail CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (STL.News) A 41-year-old resident of Edinburg has been sentenced for his role in a drug conspiracy involving the federal mail system, announced U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Patrick. Axel Noel Rodriguez Rivera pleaded guilty July 23. Today, U.S. District Judge David S. EDINBURG, TX (STL.News) Since Friday, Border Patrol agents foiled three drug smuggling attempts resulting in the seizure of more than 230 pounds of marijuana, over 53 pounds of cocaine, and nine pounds of methamphetamines. Friday evening, agents working at the Falfurrias checkpoint were conducting immigration inspections when a service K-9 alerted to a vehicle.  The vehicle was referred to secondary where agents discovered nine pounds of methamphetamines concealed in the vehicle.  The methamphetamines have an estimated street value of $286K. EDINBURG, TX (STL.News) U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a previously convicted sex offender and disrupted two narcotic smuggling attempts in the Rio Grande Valley. On Wednesday, Fort Brown agents observed two subjects carrying bundles of suspected narcotics near Brownsville, Texas.  Agents apprehended two Mexican nationals and seized two bundles of marijuana weighing over 96 pounds.  The marijuana has an estimated worth of $77K. EDINBURG, TX (STL.News) On Monday, December 23, 2019, Rio Grande City agents conducting line watch operations responded to information about a red Dodge pickup truck loading possible narcotics.  Agents observed the vehicle leaving the area and a pursuit ensued, after following the vehicle for a short time, the driver struck a marked service unit and came to a stop.  The driver absconded the area, and an immediate search of the area yielded negative results.  A search of the truck revealed 39 bundles containing 451 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $360K. On Wednesday, Rio Grande City Border Patrol agents working near Roma, Texas, arrested a Guatemalan national later identified as Ronel Esau De LEON- Baltazar for being illegally present in the United States.
