Federal Inmate Death: Stuart Manley Dies From COVID-19

WASHINGTON, DC (STL.News) On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, inmate Stuart Manley tested positive for COVID-19 at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Devens in Ayer, Massachusetts, and was immediately placed in medical isolation.  On Sunday, December 27, 2020, he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment due to acute hypoxia, shortness of breath, and mental status changes.  On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, his condition worsened and he was placed on a ventilator. On Thursday, January7, 2021, Mr. Manley, who had long-term, pre-existing medical conditions, which the CDC lists as risk factors for developing more severe COVID-19 disease, was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. North Carolina State Prison Offender Dies after Testing Positive for COVID-19

Raleigh, NC (STL.News) A Pender Correctional Institution offender with pre-existing medical conditions, who tested positive for COVID-19, has died at a hospital. “His death is saddening, and we are working hard to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 in our prisons,” said Todd Ishee, Commissioner of Prisons.  “The health and safety of the staff and the offender population is our top priority.” The offender tested positive for the virus when he was hospitalized on Sept. 22.  His conditioned worsened and he died on Oct. 1. Springfield, MO (STL.News) The Springfield-Greene County Health Department is heartbroken to announce the deaths of two Greene County residents from COVID-19.  Both were associated with long-term care. Our community lost a man in his 80s and a woman in her 60s.  Both had underlying health conditions. The Health Department extends our condolences to loved ones at this tragic time. Mississippi Department of Corrections announced the death of inmate Bobby Neil McFalls

JACKSON, MS (STL.News)  A 64-year-old inmate hospitalized since May at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman has died. Bobby Neil McFalls died Wednesday afternoon (July 8, 2020).  He was being treated for a terminal illness, according to the Sunflower County coroner.  An autopsy will be done, however, for an official cause and manner of death. McFalls, MDOC #31948, was serving life for murder and seven years for residential burglary, both of which were committed a month apart, in 1975 in Harrison County.  He had been paroled three times since his initial sentence on October 21, 1976, for the burglary.  He last returned to prison in July 2002.

Mississippi State Inmate, Philip E. Adelsheimer Dies at Carroll-Montgomery County Regional

JACKSON, MS (STL.News) Mississippi Department of Corrections reported that inmate serving 25 years for two counts of residential burglary in Rankin County, Mississippi has died in prison. Philip E. Adelsheimer, 30, was found unresponsive in his cell at the Carroll-Montgomery County Regional Correctional Facility in Vaiden on Thursday.  There appears to be no foul play, according to the Montgomery County coroner. An autopsy will determine the official cause and the manner of death. Adelsheimer, MDOC #210636, was sentenced July 10, 2016.

Washington, DC (STL.News) Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced an arrest has been made in reference to a homicide that occurred on Thursday, May 28, 2020, in the 2900 block of N Street, Southeast. At approximately 6:16 am, members of the Sixth District responded to a residence, at the listed location, for a report of an open door. Upon arrival, officers located an adult female, inside of the residence, unconscious and unresponsive, suffering from multiple stab wounds and apparent trauma.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined the victim displayed no signs consistent with life.  The victim remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
